Santa Barbara in the north of Tenerife - Holiday homes in a small town

Santa Barabara is a little Canary place between Puerto de la Cruz and Buenavista del Norte (both reachable in about 30 minutes with the rental car).

This modestly town on Tenerife should not be mistaken for a hotel complex with the same name in San Miguel de Abona. Package or mass tourism is in particular a foreign word here (The Costa Adeje is located from Santa Barbara in a 55 kilometres distance).

Because: In the north-westerly town Santa Barbara at most a sustainable tourism in form of individual tourism takes place. Therefore at this place in the middle of the lush green landscape you can still rent some very beautiful and quiet accomodation like fincas (in the heart of plantations).

Hiking lovers delight in bananas, aloe vera and prickly pears here, which grow along the hiking routes here. For anyone wanting to go for a swim from Santa Barbara the Playa San Marcos in Icod de los Vinos is recommended (about 10 minutes drive). The holiday stay there should also be used to see the "Drago Milenario" (Tenerife's most popular dragon tree).

Santa Barbara is liked especially because of its proximity to the seawater pools of Garachico. The Teide Nationalpark is also roughly 60 kilometres away.

The southern airport is reachable depending on the traffic conditions in 80 driving minutes.

A rental car would be recommendable.
