Santiago del Teide - Tenerife
Santiago del Teide geographically belongs to the Teno Mountains. The town in the south - west of Tenerife is rather inconspicuous with its few inhabitants and is situated on a plateau on about 900 m height.
The region all around Santiago del Teide extends from the coast to the foot of the volcano Teide, the highest mountain of Spain. For visitors there is a wide range of leisure activities. So the region offers the breathtaking high steep coasts of Los Gigantes, as well as the beautiful bathing beaches like for example La Arena.
A speciality of the community is the high amount of foreigners of round anbout 50 percent and thereby the highest amount in a European city.
The coasts of Santiago del Teide are an ideal starting point for a visit of the whale and dolphin colonies, which bustle in the sea between the Canary Islands Tenerife and La Gomera - an unforgetable experience.
