El Palmar in the north of Tenerife - The best area for a relaxed holiday

Nearly at the most westerly point of Tenerife, directly at the Teno Mountains there is the little Canarian town El Palmar. El Palmar belongs to the community of Buenavista del Norte (about 12 minutes by rental car away) and is especially known for its very quiet location and the hiking routes to the Teno Mountains. (Not to mistake for a big apartment complex with the same name in the south).

For this reason you should use your vacation to go hiking beginning in Palmar. A wonderful walking path from here leads directly into the Teno Mountains (a nearly two hours lasting hike over rough and volcanic smooth). But also the route to Teno - Alto is very well-liked. Where else can you admire the west Canary lizard or a wall gecko in their natural environment while walking by?

Bathing tourists find a little different and great opportunity especially in Garachico (about 20 minutes away). The volcanic seawater swimming pools, which evolved here naturally, should definetly be a party of your vacation on Tenerife and if the weather is right you should also take a swim.

In El Palmar there are also beautiful holiday houses, apartments or fincas to rent for an individual vacation. Mass tourism you will however find at the promenades along the Costa Adeje like for example Los Cristianos (about 48 kilometres away).

Popular destinations like the "Drago Milenario" in Icod de los Vinos (20 minutes) or the botanic garden but also the Loro Parque in Puerto de la Cruz (50 minutes) are reachable faster from El Palmar with the rental car as with the public bus network. Anyone wanting to experience Tenerife in an island tour, anyway should take a rental car.

The southern airport is located roughly in a 65 kilometres distance.
